Review of Open Table’s Diner’s Choice 2015

Sam and I stayed up late on a school (yikes!) night this Thursday to celebrate my brother Mike’s birthday, who was in Chicago for business but currently lives in Texas. And our poison of choice was…

The Duck Inn, located in the southwest neighborhood of Bridgeport, recently won the online reservation system “Open Table”‘s Diner’s Choice 2015, making this out-of-the-way restaurant a jam-packed delicious evening out.

I scoured the Yelp reviews beforehand to get recommendations on what our group needed to try.

Magnetron Schwarzbier

Their impressive beer list has the Applewood Smoked Amber Ale, which Sam ordered and we swear, it tasted like bacon.

I decided on the Magnetron Schwarzbier ale, because I’ve found darker beers to have more flavors going on.

As a pescatarian, I didn’t try the duck, so I will give you my brother’s wholehearted recommendation of the menu’s prime event: A whole or half order of duck (quack).

“They served this whole duck on a wooden platter, like a Muppet Christmas Carol feast,” -Greg, my brother.

I was a huge fan of the fried cheese curds, for obvious reasons.

My only caveat with the restaurant was it’s hour long drive from Evanston :/
