3 travel hacks will make you conquer your travel nerves

Flight delays. Less than stellar hotel rooms.

Hockers holding their products right in your face while shouting at you.

There are some inconveniences everyone can expect when traveling abroad and experiencing new cultures.

 Here’s how we’ve made the best of unfortunate situations that tourists experience while traveling abroad. 

  1. Flight delays

When our international flight first showed up delayed for 30 minutes, I jumped right in the customer service line to brainstorm alternate routes.

Because I was proactive in planning for a potential missed connection, the attendants could rebook me before alternative routes filled up.

Booking all flights with the same carrier gives flight attendants greater “god” power to reroute for unplanned delays

Report delays and missed flights to customer service when back at home for vouchers.

In the past, American Airlines has provided me with future flight vouchers for plane delays.

I plan on requesting reimbursement via email for their scheduled plane maintenance at the same time our flight was set to take off.

 

2. We booked an airbnb with stellar reviews, a view of the city, and a price under 60$. Ideal, right?

When we got into the room, it was a postage stamp. Not only that, we could hear the neighbors through the paper thin walls of what clearly was a hostel, and not an individual place.
